The Wynonna Earp: Vengeance special is out now on Tubi! Wyatt Vinci, American West Law Studies & History Researcher, had the chance to check out the movie over the weekend. Here’s what he thought about Wynonna’s return:
Wynonna Earp is a Supernatural Western series based on the graphic novels of the same name by Beau Smith. Inspired by the larger-than-life historical figure of the American West, Wyatt Earp, Wynonna is the fictional great-great-granddaughter of the legendary lawman. The story follows Wynonna as she returns to Purgatory to battle the reincarnation of the outlaws who Wyatt killed: included the Cowboys at O.K. Corral. Of course, true to its supernatural notion, Wynonna takes on a variety of monsters, ghouls, vampires and other creepy creatures. As a History and Law Studies enthusiast, Wyatt Vinci appreciates how this series echoes Earp’s name. Although it may be a wild horror style Western made larger than life, the Historian still enjoys the series’ attention to historical moments. Wynonna Earp was Wyatt’s introduction to the Weird West genre, which infuses elements of Westerns into a Supernatural style.
Wyatt Vinci was disappointed when Wynonna Earp was canceled in 2021. Imagine his surprise when he came across the recently released special on tubi, Wynonna Earp: Vengeance! Over the weekend, Wyatt had the chance to watch the movie with some friends. Without giving away too many details, he will say that this movie is action-packed. It follows Wynonna, Wyatt Earp’s great-great-granddaughter, as she returns to Purgatory once again to battle her greatest foe yet.
